Choreographic devices

Before we started working on the piece it’s self me and my group did a few choreography activities to get us think about different ways we can interpret a stimulus and how working with each other can bring on different ideas. One activity we did was to each receive a stimulus in a small group which was either an image or a painting, my stimulus was a painting of what looked like a town set on fire. This reminded me of The Fire of London as the houses looked as though they were from that era, the colours in the painting I think resemble anger, danger and frustration and this really developed how I thought about movements I could suggest. This activity really helped me think about the storyline of a routine and how there can be journeys and starting points with in a piece. The painting is also very abstract and has a lot of contrasting lines and shapes which is something me and my partner had through about when creating the choreography. Previously mentioned in one of my other blogs, m...

Structure and process of my group choreography

The structure me and my group used to create our choreography, was by listing certain points in the music we are using (which is called Bloodstream by Tokio Myers) and deciding what relevance the music and choreography would have to our theme. As a group we discussed and asked who would like to create choreography for sections of the music, where some were given pieces to develop in a group or individually.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WzgFohAu1W4  (Here is the link for the music we are using, Bloodstreem by Tokio Myers)   Personally I am in a group of three where we are responsible for the build in the music before a huge change occurs, we will be using contrasting movements that will have different dynamics. A movement example which we could possibly use is, standing facing the front with both feet parallel and the left arm reaching towards the ceiling whilst the right arm is slightly pulling down towards the ground by the side of your body with your head slig...

My Choreography Stimulus

Image
The stimulus me and my group are using to create our group choreography, is an image of a brain with lines connecting from the brain to several emojis with different expressions. Me and my group chose this stimulus by using four different images and individually voting for the image we liked the most, this was a very beneficial way to decide our stimulus as it avoided any issues in the group. My initial thoughts of the picture was, the variety of emotions we have and how we might portray them to others, but also how social media impacts our well being and the way we behave. This idea came from the emotions of the emojis and how it incorporated the technology aspect of how we might feel about social media’s positive and negative factors. I believe this image also represents different personalities and how others clash because of their own personal traits, this is shown through the several emojis in the picture which may vary from person to person. The message of our piece is to portray ...
