Evaluation for my group choreography
Overall I think that it is very clear to see the distress that is caused in the piece as well as the collaboration of the brain and mind. I also believe that the individual emotions from the mind come across clearly as they drift out of the brain one at a time in the beginning of the performance. The awareness of DID which we are trying to raise comes across clearly as the formations and dramatic movements portray the tension between the two personalities we are using in our piece.
I think that taking part in choreographing the performance has really helped develop my choreographic style and I would describe my style as using the whole of the body to show the meaning and intention of the piece, to add I would say that my choreography usually comes from my upper body and then down towards my lower body. This process has also helped me step out side of my comfort zone more as it’s lead me to using other choreographic techniques which have developed into beginning to find my own individual artistry.
A strength in this process that I had was that I was able to teach my choreography to the rest of the group when needed and was prepared to adapt my choreography to others as well as being able to travel the movements if needed to change formations in between my choreography and a group members choreography. A weakness that I found in this process would be counting the music as I struggled to concentrate on choreographing whilst using counts, this is something I will be working on in the future. To improve this I am going to use counts more frequently when choreographing and learning exercises and routines.
