Problems and solutions in the choreographic process
In the choreography process so far as a group we have found certain issues and have tried to find ways to over come them, for example a problem we had was spacing, as the two groups in the nostalgic memory section were both crowded on the right side of stage so there wasn’t any clarity between the groups, this meant the left side of stage wasn’t being used. To over come this we had one person from the group look at the piece and give feedback on what we could improve, so Taylor viewed the piece and advised the group around the back of the stage to curve round to the left side of stage so that it was clear to the audience that there’s two groups.
Another problem we looked at as a group was how we taught the choreography during our rehearsal time, as we only have a certain amount of time before the deadline for the piece. The issue in this was that we were focusing on cleaning chunks of choreography before learning the whole of the choreography, therefore what we are going to do from next rehearsal is to learn as much of the rest of the choreography as possible and then look at cleaning the performance after the movements are learnt. This way everyone in the group can practice the choreography in their spare time and we have more time to neaten the choreography.
Towards the end of our previous rehearsal, Isabelle asked the group if we would prefer the end of the music to fade slowly into the added section of music or if we would like a gradual descend in the music to the next piece of music. We decided to do a vote to see what we preferred and we came to the decision on a fade to our next section of music.
As I am teaching my section of choreography next week, something that I can do before the rehearsal is to organise the formation and how to get from the previous formation into the new one. This is really going to help the group understand where they need to be and we won’t waste time figuring out how and where we want people to travel to. Something else me and my small group can do, is to organise how many counts it’s going to take to travel to the new positions, this is also going to help us with our time management.

Great blog Liv! I liked how you included a diagram to show what you were explaining in your last section. It might be good to explain how you will use this information going forward in the first few points like you did in the last. Well done :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Ciara for your feedback it’s very much appreciated.
DeleteGreat images and explanation of the issues you have faced. Can you add paragraphing into your blogs to make them easier to read. Looking at time management what other issues have you faced due to the current climate that may have changed the plan in the studio?
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Miss Davis for the feed back.
DeleteHi Liv, well done this is a great blog! I love that you included an image to show the different formations! Great descriptive work on some of the issues we faced and how we resolved them. Next time you could talk about how you might think about these problems when creating your own sections and what you might do to avoid these problems when teaching, for example the spacing :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the feedback Ella.
ReplyDeleteHi Liv, well done for this blog it is really well written. Maybe for next time you could paragraph your work just so its a little easier to read, also maybe look into other problems arose and how could we change these going into the future!
